The Most Inconvenient Christmas

It is certainly difficult to think much of being merry in this year. Covid19, political unrest, and general insecurity has made 2020 one of the most challenging years this world has seen in the past fifty. From current perspectives, this could be the most inconvenient Christmas of our lifetime. But it is not the most inconvenient Christmas of all time.

The most inconvenient Christmas there ever was, was the first one so long ago. Mary and Joseph were made to journey about 80 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Can you imagine riding on the back of a donkey for days while being pregnant? That would not only be uncomfortable, but would have been inconvenient too!

Consider the day of the birth of Jesus. Do you think that was inconvenient? Well, consider there was no room in the local hotel. They could only find a barn. Jesus, the King of the universe, was born in a dirty stable. That is inconvenience, even in that day.

The Savior of the world was born to a virgin, in a dirty stable, on the outskirts of town, to start His earthly existence. The good news is that He was able to identify with us as human. He was without sin and yet could understand our situation. He came to make a way for us as humans have a genuine relationship with God.

The most inconvenient Christmas gave us the opportunity to celebrate now. Regardless of your situation, Jesus still loves you and identifies with you. Won’t you allow the gift that keeps on giving, Jesus, to give to you this Christmas season?

Be Encouraged!
